BMW R1250GS Rallye: Software update and first service have been done, and we have a quick look at the menu system of the R1250GS and a hidden feature of the heated seat / grip button...

This is the second episode in this new series looking at the R1250GS. I am lucky to have this bike for a long-term test and review, and will cover several thousands of km over the coming weeks with the BMW R1250GS. I will share what I think about this amazing motorbike and the incredible BMW 1250 engine. We will discuss the positives and negatives and talk about optional extras and the BMW packs / packets you might add to your GS.

I will also release several “Tips and Tricks” episodes, for helping you understand how to use the TFT and menu system and how to get the maximum from the different riding modes and settings.

I hope to upload 1 new video each week during this first season, so please Subscribe and press the Bell notification button (This will help the channel grow and develop), and of course you will be notified when the next episode is uploaded. Thank you, Carl

If you have any requests or content suggestions about the BMW R1250GS series… just let me know.
Carl

Carl I understand the 2023 model will have the ability to turn off the self-cancelling indicators from the TFT. Do you know, from your contacts in BMW, whether this will be made available to earlier models like yours (and mine) through a software update?

That's a great hook for your series since I don't recall seeing the heated seats/grips long press hint anywhere in the owner's manual. Looking forward to learning many more new tricks!!!

Fantastic info ref the long press of the heat button. My 1st GS just happened to have heated seats, wouldn’t be without them now. Great channel and very informative vids on the GS. A well earned sub here.

That feature makes perfect sense! I could have used that recently on a multi-day ride in the cold. :)

Thanks a lot for sharing your videos… VERY HELPFUL. I did not know about this feature and already wondered/dreamed about how cool and useful such an option would be. A really great tip!!!

Thanks and look forward to watching your next videos.

Shifting your attention into a menu to adjust the grip settings is good example of why I am in no hurry to give up my old Camhead. A simple three position switch for adjusting grips is infinitely superior IMO in terms of ease and safety.

Hi Carl. Thank you for an excellent channel of knowledge! I have a comment on your demo of how to adjust the heat level on the grips of the 1250 GSA. I have a 2023 model but without seat heating. On those GSA`s that only have heated grips it is not possible to set an individual heat level on the grips with the “short cut access”. You can only select pre set level 1 & 2 and “OFF”. I checked with my BMW dealer and they confirmed this.(I do have the latest software upgrade). May be you can mention this on a later video? Again thank you for your tutorial skills!
