Sure it’s easy to simply believe Hans was always destined to be the villain of Frozen. We see him at the end of of the movie as conniving and as if he was planning his future rule of the Arendell from the beginning, but what if their was more to the story? What if Hans wasn’t acting his true self and was only acting evil because of the influence of another? Hello I’m Isaac from Wotso Videos where we discuss fun topics for fun people and today we are going to unearth the truth behind Hans’ horrendous actions and discover if he was cursed.

He smiled after he fell into the fjord. A genuine smile, there was no one to see it.

In my opinion, It wasn't Elsa that cursed Hans, but it was all the trolls. In the song "Fixer upper" they tried to force Anna to marry Kristoff, and the trolls said "Get the fiance out of the way and the whole thing will be fixed" The trolls have altered Anna's memory so how hard is it for them to alter Hans' memory? Hans was never the bad guy, until he took the sharp turn to evil, but remember in the beginning of the movie when he falls into the water, and the canoe? or some boat thing is on top of him? Anna hears the bell and says she has to go, he stares at her walking away with a smile, not a smug smirk, evil smile or anything but a love struck type of look. Also, when he went to retrieve Elsa one of his men tried to kill her, but he stopped him, and said "You're not a monster" so don't you think he would've took the shot and let one of his men kill her since he wanted to throne ? I believe the trolls changed his memory to try to get Kristoff into becoming Anna's husband, and tried to get Hans to kill Elsa AND BAM! Anna would have to become queen with Kristoff at her side !

I was with you on the whole troll thing, but you lost me on the Elsa involvement part. The trolls raised Kristof as their own, they had a personal vested interest in his life and happiness. I think they wanted to set up Anna and their boy so badly, that they used their powers to get his competition out of the way. Hans doesn't display the shift in personality until after the song. While the theory of Hans playing the roll of the mirror has some weight, I think his "curse" was entirely the doing of the trolls in an effort to set Kristof up with the nice girl he brought home. Their quotes make more sense with this in mind and is better explains Hans' behavior then the mirror theory or Elsa ordering anyone to give her a rival to fight to gain public support.

I'm gonna be honest, the whole Elsa setting up Hans thing is a stretch....BUT the Trolls doing this on their own accourd I can buy. I'm not 100% convinced that Hans was a filthy jerk, he seemed so sweet and genuine. It was a great twist but his monologue made NO SENSE...AT ALL! I mean you can pretend so far, but he had a sparkle in his eyes when he was around Anna, he was even going to kiss her. Her eyes were closed so he had no reason to form his mouth in such a way as if he was going to kiss her other than he got cursed AT THAT MOMENT and WAS going to kiss her but then went stupid.

Hans was once good, but then, the great evil that is Disney realised that the movie didn't have a villain, so they cursed Hans to be evil about halfway through the movie.

Hans makes so much more sense now.

The way he smiled after Anna in the beginning in the boat scene and the way they dance together and understand each other so well, I just can't imagine him having bad intentions.

Being forced to do horrible things because of a magic spell makes him work much better as a character.

The trolls were certainly over eager to get Kristoff married as quickly as possible, whether his potential wife wanted it or not.

I think the trolls did it on there own. I've heard a similar theory to this before. I think with the intentions of getting Kristoff (who they love and have taken care of) married they took matters too far. They have always been very powerful creatures and are in tune with love. Knowing Kristoff's heart, that he was in love with Anna, and that Anna was not in love with Hans and falling for Kristoff they decide to push things along.

They see Hans as an obstacle and without thinking of the consequences they change Hans' mind (as the did with Anna) bringing his worst flaws and darkest desires to the fore front, in order to push Anna away. But going unchecked by his conscience and formerly kind heart his resentment of his siblings and his need to be noticed and adored as the youngest child run wild eclipsing his feelings for Anna and turning him into the villain we know and hate.

The trolls seeing things have worked out in Kristoff's benefit anyway are pleased with their work and as Hans is sent away they never have to come forward or change him back. So while I don't think they're completely evil I think they could have easily has a hand in Hans' transformation and got away with it.

Wouldn't it make more sense, going back to your other video, that since the trolls were enslaved by the royals the trolls cursed Hans because they wanted Kristof to marry anna so that he could free them?

I don't think Elsa did ask the Trolls to set up Hans for the simple reason she had only been to the Trolls once in her lifetime at age 8 and therefore couldn't possibly know how to get there. I do not see that as a conceivable addition to the Troll theory.

The Troll theory states that the Trolls made Hans believe he always had the intentions he claimed to have when he refused to kiss Anna. The theory goes that they did that after singing 'Fixer Upper' in which they learned about Anna's fiancee and suggested he should get out of the way.

There are other theories out there such as the Mirror theory, which states that Hans was mimicking the emotions of every single person he was be with at any given moment. When he first met Anna, he mimicked her cuteness and awkwardness. When he was taking care of the crisis caused by the sudden winter, he reflected the concerns of the dignitaries and servants around him, until he came across the Duke of Weselton who accused Anna of conspiring with Elsa. Hans replied by implying the Duke was conspiring to undermine Anna's authority (de facto his authority). Then Anna's scared horse came back and he became concerned for Anna and set up a rescue mission. When he came across the violent Marshmallow, he responded with violence. When he came across the scared Elsa, he reflected her worries right back at her. And finally when he betrayed Anna, he reflected her feelings of being betrayed back at her, as Anna felt somewhat betrayed by her sister.

However, I prefer the 'evolving plan' theory, in which Hans had a plan in every scene we see him in, but he adapted his plan to the scene in order to obtain maximum influence under the circumstances given. Here is what I theorize happened in every scene.

At the beginning, he wanted to marry into the throne somewhere. He preferred Elsa, but he could not even get into contact with her. He learned nobody could get anywhere with Elsa while he was in Arendelle, so he decided being in Arendelle was a waste of time. Upon leaving, he bumped into Anna and figured out he might be able to marry her instead and subsequently stage an accident for Elsa. He smiled as being in Arendelle might not have been a waste of time after all.

When Elsa fled after her powers were revealed and Anna left him in charge of Arendelle, his first priority was to become popular with the citizens, so he could probably hold on to an influential position regardless of the outcome of Anna's attempt to make things right with Elsa

When Anna's horse returned, he had evidence that something went wrong with Anna's attempt and used that so he could go after Elsa. I think he hoped to make things right between Elsa and the citizens of Arendelle and the foreign royals and diplomats, so he might have a chance to marry Elsa. Especially after Elsa's powers were revealed, I think Hans was interested in Elsa, because these powers might enable him to build his own empire.

However, in order to build an empire based on such powers, it was essential that those powers were controlled. When Elsa told him she could not bring back summer, he realised that if he were to use these powers to build an empire, it would be an empire covered in winter, which is not as valuable as an empire with varying seasons. So that is when he settled for Arendelle and chose to kill Elsa in order to bring back summer. His only problem at this point was that Anna probably would not condone the killing of Elsa, so she would probably remove him from power if he proceeded with that plan. So he first had to get rid of her.

When Anna was brought in and revealed that Elsa had frozen her heart, Hans had the perfect way of getting rid of Anna and subsequently blaming Elsa. So that is what he did.

Notice that the 'evolving plan' theory as I propose it here also solves why Hans saved Elsa from the crossbow bolt; he wanted Elsa alive at that point to used her powers to build an empire, as he hadn''t learned yet that Elsa couldn't control her powers.

I really think it was a bad idea making Hans a bad-guy. I just didn't work.

maybe Elsa didn't have anything to do with it and the trolls did it by themselves for kristoff and Anna to be together since they have the power and they literally raised him, they want him to find love so they made Anna available

I absolutely love this theory and as I love Hans twice as much, I’ve read probably every version of this theory. And here is what I think:
He’s been cursed by the trolls and it’s evident, but not necessarily because of Elsa. The trolls are the real villains.
The trolls are like parents to Kristoff, aren’t they? (Here’s the first issue - Kristoff has been literally kidnapped in the first minutes of the movie. We don’t know if he had parents or not, but this troll woman just decided to to keep him and Sven? That’s suspicious) And what does every parent want for their child? A happy ending. And as Kristoff isn’t the most social person existing (and he isn’t perfect - that’s what even the trolls know and sing about in fixer upper), the trolls see the potential of giving their son a happy ending in the first girl he’s brought to them - Anna. Oh, Anna’s heart is freezing? That doesn’t matter. Instead of helping her immediately, they burst into a song. During the song the trolls learn that Anna is engaged and does it bother them? No. They sing „This quote engagement is a flex arrangement” and „Get the fiance out of the way and the whole thing will be fixed”. They directly say what they’re up to, but no one seems to care, because we know that Anna and Hans have been engaged after one day. But the trolls don’t know that. It could be, let’s say, a three-year relationship and that wouldn’t change anything for the trolls. Either way, they would want Hans or any other fiance out of the picture. It’s nothing personal - they just want Kristoff to have a happy ending, and at those times, who was a better candidate for a wife than a princess? The trolls know it’s Kristoff’s only chance for a better life. Perhaps they want Kristoff’s child on the throne of Arendelle - I haven’t discovered why yet. Probably because they want to be closer to the royal family or something.
Their song seems to be a curse itself, because of its lyrics. Almost every villain in modern Disney movies has a song which reveals what they’re up to, and couldn’t that be the case with fixer upper? Up to this point, we have no right to suspect that Hans is evil. So the song is the curse or the trolls have cursed Anna first to let that influence Hans through her when the fiances finally touch (the trolls knew they would touch, because Hans was going to kiss Anna to save her). The curse messed up his mind and as you said in your video, changed his memories. Hans became an attempted murderer and that destroyed his chance for marrying Anna - Kristoff took his place. I don’t want to sound like I blame Kristoff - the trolls probably were working without his knowledge.
One more thing - the trolls call themselves ‚love experts’ and everything they do, they do because they love Kristoff and they think that true love can happen between him and Anna. In their understanding, isn’t that a sufficient excuse for their acts?
I have one question for those that believe Hans was a sociopath wanting to take over Arendelle. After Elsa escaped, he had one less obstacle standing in his way to the throne. When he learned Anna was in danger, he had the remaining obstacle gone and he could then become king easily. So why did he set off in order to save both sisters, those obstacles?
This is just my opinion and my alternative idea is that Hans has just a split personality and at one point he’s good and then he turns evil just to be good again after some time :p
Oh, and I love hawaiian pizza <3

Ehh, I don't think so. It would make more sense to me if the trolls themselves wanted all of the power and was just using the royal family as pons. But that's just me.

I think the theory that the trolls did something to Hans makes sense, he did change quickly, and they did want to get rid of Hans to get Kristoff with Anna, heck they might have done something to Elsa too since Anna's and Kristoff's relationship grew a bit too quickly ok by Disney movie standards but at first it looked like this movie was going against the standards of Disney.

Sure we can argue the fact that this was a decision by Disney, but fan theories are more fun.

No offence, but I like the theory that Hans is a mirror a bit better.

I think that trolls did not get Elsa's orders to curse Hans. What I think is that when the trolls comes to know that Anna loves Hans more than Kristoff, they thought of making Hans evil. Maybe they had a control over Anna's mind again to make her fall in love with Kristoff. The trolls may even have controlling Kristoff's mind, otherwise how would they get too close after the ride of the sled? Or Kristoff would be using Anna to get rich as if you hear the conversation of Kristoff and Swen after the sled ride:
Kristoff: I'm not gonna help her anymore.
Swen: But she'll die on her own and you'll not get a new sled.
Kristoff: Sometimes I don't like you. Hang on we're coming.
Maybe on that point, Kristoff just said this last sentence to make us think that Kristoff isn't using Anna but Kristoff would be thinking "If she is going to replace everything that is burned, then what is the problem to help her to get to the northern mountains?"
If you closely look to Kristoff's emotions when he gets Anna to Arendelle and the doors were closed on his face, he felt disappointed as he thought that Anna had Promissed me to replace my sled and everything in it, then why did they closed the gates?
Swen maybe have told Kristoff to move back to Arendelle at that point just because he thought that if Kristoff would resque Anna, everyone would feel that Kristoff really loves Anna and they will get all the riches of the kingdom.
These are my thoughts. Comment me your thoughts and like this comment if you support this thought.
Stay super happy....

I don't think Else went to the trolls.. she ran across a lake, freezing it and ran up into the mountains to hide.
