Leeches are one of the few animals whose bites are almost guaranteed not to get infected. They have evolved to be beneficial to the animals they feed on, with their saliva being a cocktail of antimicrobials and antiseptics. Some wildlife will even seek out waters with leeches when they have wounds or sores because of it! They are genuinely fascinating little critters!
