For those who don’t get the song:
It’s from a musical called Dear Evan Hansen. Evan is the boy singing to his crush Zoe. Zoe’s brother (Connor) committed suicide and Evan faked emails so that it looked like he and Connor were friends (because Evan had to write letters to himself and signed them off ‘Sincerely Me’ and showed them to Connor’s family). He then acted as if Connor had said all of the things in the song to mask his love for her while still expressing it.

We start with a Teen Named Evan Hansen Who Has Severe Social Anxiety, His Therepist Gives Him advice to Write letters to himself. One of the letters is written like this,

Thus the name, Dear Evan Hansen.


Evan wrote one of letters in the computer lab, The letter containing something about Connor’s sister Zoe.
Connor finds it and runs off with it.




Three days later… Evan starts to wonder where Connor is, because he has his letter. Evan is called to the principals office, he finds Connors parents there.


Evan finds out that Connor committed suicide, and they found the letter. They asked Evan if he was friends with Connor, because they think Connor Wrote it to Evan.
