They do have their own tools to get resources together though, like Kickstart projects. Certainly not a dependable source of resources I know, but it's something. The main thing we need to do is just get people running these companies that's not out to rake as much money from people as possible, or to educate them in what's actually going to secure them the most brand loyalty; that of course being memorable content and not flashy graphics.

A hard truth that the industry doesn't want to seem to learn. They want to show us the flash and awe that they know is going to draw us in, but behind all the smoke and mirrors we're just getting an ordinary, or sometimes sub-par product.

Exactly. I'm sure the devs would like to do all sorts of things with the game, but it's the CEOs pushing them to make deadlines and to conform to a design that's going to pull the most income in that dampers what gaming should be now. There's always Indy games I guess, but I haven't seen many that could interest me more than triple A titles. Mainly because they lack the resources a big name company would have.

Nvidia makes graghics cards, and right now their newest series are the GTX series. the best they have to offer right now is i think a GTX680, and the cost of this monster is $499 to $530. Insanely good card :3

I wouldn't say best exactly... But I think this graphics race is somewhat hurting developers, because instead of focusing on new gameplay mechanics or stories to tell, the majority of their time is having to deal with making amazing cut scenes such as this. Not saying it's a bad thing, but the focus, to me, is on the game. Having fun with the tools at my disposal. Not about watching beautifully rendered cutscenes. It's neat and all, But I'd take a well made old school game anyday.

Indy games are a problem. They are generally great titles, but like you said, no resources. They have to rely on word of mouth. They have no advertising, and then when they do get out as being known as a good game and developmental team, the big companies immediately try to snatch them up. I dunno, my feelings are pretty mixed on the subject. It's a hard line to walk for sure. I mean they have to make money to put the games out, but yet not compromise and force the artist.
