Zemeratik, Hava Nagila on Bagpipes

I made this quick video to demonstrate playing tunes in the mode called Ahava Rabboh, Freygish, or Hijaz on the Scottish Highland bagpipes. In Western music this mode is called the Harmonic minor, though this is a misnomer. In written Highland pipe music the scale is A Bb C# D E F G A, sounding pitches Bb Cb D Eb F Gb Ab Bb. The tunes are two Israeli folk dances Zemeratik and Hava Nagila.

Very well played and tuned, thanks for that! I've seen pipers here on youtube who didn't bother to play in the right scale.

This. Is. Awesome.
Thanks for putting info about the mode in the description- is there a difference between harmonic minor and Freygish/Ahava Rabboh/Hijaz? I've heard it called Harmonic Minor Destination in classical schools (same as harmonic minor but the fifth is the tonic, like Hava Nagila I think?), is this the same thing?

Hi there, I am not quite sure what keeps happening to my messages so I figured I would write one more on your post recent post.

Hi there - apologies for the basic question - but how am I to get my bagpipes sounding as such? With a great deal of tape over the necessary holes?

Hey there! Posting on this video since it's your most recent... I have been interested in your double Gibson practice chanter pipes since seeing it on Xmarks long ago. I was hoping to touch base to see about getting something of the sort made. I seem to recall a post on XMarks where you walked through getting them made but can't seem to locate it. Any chance of getting in touch with you on this? Thanks!
