That’s the case on other systems using emulation station as well. Vectrex for example is borked on Batocera.

The important question is are you in Gaming Mode or Desktop Mode? Reconfiguring controls should be easy enough in Gaming Mode, but Desktop Mode of RetroArch is actually a different program and your right stick is used as a mouse, so it can't be easily changed in the input settings.

The issue is that it doesn’t always seem to shoot in the exact direction you need to. Like if you want to shoot straight left or right. You have to hit perfect or else it goes diagonal or vice versa. Is this a skill issue? Is this how it was on the cabinet? Or is there just something off with the sticks on controllers and steam deck?
