You know what's sad? this is literally my life its not even funny, i mean almost exactly its scary how accurate this is. The only difference is I do not smoke or drink any alcohol.. but I am unemployed, extremely depressed, and mostly confined to my apartment during daylight. My circumstances are quite unique though, I wasn't like this always, in fact I had a good normie life - was in shape, healthy, about to graduate medical school and earn a high 6 figure salary as a pathologist...Then, out of the blue I just got chronically ill and became permanently disabled - Chronic fatigue, brain fog, bowel disease, arthritis and more issues.. and now, 5 years later I am a broke, depressed, sick man nearing his mid 30s who plays video games and listens to music at night just to cope and get through another day with no hope or any sort of future to look to. I did not choose to become a doomer, life forced doomerism on me.

Two quotes that really got me were “There is nothing more common than young men with potential” and “Most men live lives of quiet desperation”. As you get older you find out how true that is and how quickly those from the first quote become the subjects of the second. I was 20 and working at a deli. My pos car was done for, used a bicycle for transport and was just working for barely above minimum. Going into the Air Force was a good decision for me. I ended up doing a 21 year active and reserve career and it led to my other career as a federal Criminal Investigator. Retired from the USMS at 52 and have been doing what I like (mostly boxing and shooting, plus some travel) since. Break out doomers.
