Beard is less beneficial than one might think in winter, since its excellent surface area collects atmospheric moisture and uses the superior heat conductivity of that moisture to jettison heat from one body to the cold vacuum of space.

In summer, on the other hand, it can provide excellent shade for the chin and absorb a lot of carcinogenic radiation into its already dead husk. Being an international chess master, you are basically the person out of everyone who should be most concerned about covert radioactive soviet activity, so I really hope you will reconsider.

Maybe it would decrease your perception of warmth if you have some awful shock and it responds by becoming more reflective, to shield you from the outside world.
