Why Buy? | 2017 Porsche Macan S Review

There was a time when every vehicle to wear a Porsche badge was a sports car. Today, while some of our very favorite sons of Stuttgart still fit that description, the German maker sells many more SUVs than it does coupes. That’s a fact that the purists still bemoan, but probably because they haven’t actually driven something like this Macan S, which is a driver’s car no matter how high it is off the ground.

With a turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 developing 340 horsepower and 339 pound-feet of torque, the Macan S has power enough to make it entertaining in a straight line. But, as we find out in this week’s edition of Why Buy? the real fun starts where the road gets twisty – a typical Porsche trait but not one you might expect from a vehicle in this class.

Bought a used 2016 Macan S a few months ago. Always wanted a Porsche and not bad performance but wish I could have afforded the turbo with the 400hp engine. I have the basic steel springs suspension and gets a little bumpy on bad roads, otherwise pretty decent ride. The one thing that is disappointing with Porsche is how they nickel and dime their customers for options that should be standard such as lighted vanity mirrors, I believe that is a $600 plus option. The panoramic sunroof is nice but rattles from the liner or something else and Porsche wants $250 just to look at the car which is ridiculous, so I will try to DIY myself or find an independent mechanic for certain repairs.

I’ve owned one for almost 3 years. Great all round premium sport suv. Just wish it was a little bit louder. Only issue was a squeaky steering wheel. Love everything about it. 90% sure it will be replaced by a GLC 63AMG. Looks as good but the soundtrack is on another level.

Seyth wasn't very objective, i'm 6'5 too and this thing is small. plus, I've heard much more objective review of this macan and i ve heard him be more objective in other cars.
