Every alien must know by this action and for all time that, when it comes to attacking Mankind, the aphorism "that which does not destroy me has made a grave strategic error" is hardwired into our genetic code.

I was at the bridge of the 'Sword of Terra', a low maintenance guy. I had to stay close to the bridge, or on it, at all times. At that moment, I was on it.
I've catched the frantic calls of the Star Concord, desperatly trying to convince us to stop, to see reason, that what we were doing was nothing less then a massacre.
Almirant Ivanova, a woman of half a century of experience leading the most powerful ships of the GTU, simply ignored the calls, by strict orders of Terra itself.
'We are in position, Ma'am' - said one of the bridge officers.
'Very well' - she answered. She then took a deep breath, and, with a very small amount of hesitation, she ordered: 'Initiate the charging of the 'World Ender', and begin transmission'
The bridge moved with the customary precision of hundreds of hours of training, but a deep silence befell the entire ship. All that we could hear was the silent thrum of the generator.
And then, Almirant Ivanova begun the speech that would enter history:
'That who doesn't kill us makes us stronger'. This ancient saying, born in the distante past of Terra, was amongst humans a request to never give up, no matter how difficult or painful the hardships an individual or group had to face.
This ancient proverb proves itself true today.
Now, after 400 years, Humanity stands over the very homeworld of the species that, in an unprovoked manner, tried, and failed, to destroy us.
We, the children of Terra, stand in judgement of an entire species, that research proved to be so hostile, so vile, so beyond any means of comprehension, that only one veredict is acceptable.
By the power confered to me by the Great Terran Union, the will of its citizens and the dictate of Fate itself, We, Humanity, declare the Tyrum guilty.
No appeal will be accepted, nor any claim of leniency. The blood of billions stains their hands, and only this action can serve as appropriate punishment. Less than that would be to diminish not only the loss of lives, but the unsurmountable sacrifices our kind had to make to overcome and recover from such terrible atrocity.
The only veredict for such crime is death. Ten thousand Tyrum for one drop of our blood. This is the only acceptable price.
And, by this action, vengeance is achieved, and we can finally allow the rest of the souls of billions that, to this very day, impelled us towards this moment.

When she finished, Almirant Ivanova simply nodded to the weapon control, and a single button was pressed.
And a spear of light was formed, burning the atmosphere in seconds, transforming buildings, animals, plants and Tyrum in ash.
And it continued, now cracking the surface, causing immense earthquakes and volcanic eruptions, boiling the seas and killing all life to the viral level.
And I saw the planet crack, consumed by convulsions, resembling a god wounded by traitorous chidren.
The spear of light ceased.
And we all saw fragments of continents, islands, mountains and trenches begun to drift away from one another.
We destroyed a planet.
And around me, some people laughed. Others cried. Many stayed in silence, including me.
And Almirant Ivanova said a phrase that now I will carry with me forever, for in that day, I've saw what Humanity had become, and how will be known for all eternity:
'And now I am Death, the Destroyer of Worlds'
Transmission was finished. There was nothing more to do.
After 400 years, vengeance was ours. We sacrificed a lot to garantee that, one day, we would make the Tyrum pay. No step was done without taking this in consideration. No advance was make if did not lead us to this act.
So, why after our triumph, after all made and done, this victory taste like ash?

I agree with the GTU. The deployment of the sword of Terra was justified. The Tyrim had no individuality, and whatever singular consciousness existed was obviously evil. I celebrate the annihilation of the Tyrim.
