In the official eve lore, all gates are built around artificial wormholes, created by exploiting the gravitational resonances of binary systems. So in fact all of the systems we have in the game are at least binary star systems. After all these years it seems CCP did not retcon this and thus the triglavians disrupt one of the stars gravitational field in order to disrupt the artificial wormholes that power the jumpgates .

eve online trailers are some of the best, they just really do a good job at making you want to jump back to it. I've had my time and my fun, so wont go back. But eve was my first mmo and it hit so many right notes for me. Wish they would push the lore and such more, since it probably has some of the best stories and world info of any game.
