Welcome back to a new episode of Rental Car Ergonomics
This week: the Ford Escape, SUV(sort of)

I upgraded to have a different vehicle for y’all and it wasn’t really worth it on my end. It drove just like a car and I wasn’t in love with my ergonomics.

1️⃣ A positive was the headrest that felt great. I could rest my head with proper posture and feel comfortable. 🤘Remember that’s what it’s for!

2️⃣ Electrical seat adjustments were abundant with it being a brand new 2021. It took me a bit to find exactly where my body wanted to be, but I could adjust easily on the drive because they were easy to use buttons.

3️⃣ I was disappointed in the steering wheel. It only adjusts forward/back and not very far. If it came towards me a bit further, I may have been able to use the center console to rest my arm on.

🥷 Ergo Note - you want the seat cushion to have a neutral angle. Too much tilt up on the knee end will effect your circulation and too much the other way can put a strange tilt on your pelvis.

4️⃣ The random negative was the weird padding at the back of the seat cushion. It was like I left a washcloth on the seat or I had a diaper on…annoying for a 90 min drive.

The Ford Escape gets a 3.5/5 ⭐️

For a brand spanking new car, I expected better.

Actually No I did not Help. I Test Drove a 24 Escape And Ordered one. Waiting for it to be produced and DELIVERED. I WAS DEFINITELY IMPRESSED WITH IT AND NO NEGATIVES!!

I’m glad you liked your purchase. I know not everyone is as picky with the ergo details as I am.
I’m curious if the steering wheel has both up and down and in and out adjustments on your 2024. I would hope that there are some advancements in the three years.
