My great grandfather told us a story about 3 traveling merchants passing through what was known back then as Darkest Africa. They set up camp by a lake and told stories about their travels, while resting against a log. As soon as one of them lit a bonfire, the log slowly moved. It was the biggest snake they could ever have imagined. They did not stop until they reached the Sahara desert and wrote a warning for anyone who found a letter on their withered skeletons.

They should make a more terrifying snake. Like a giant king cobra or anaconda since they have a scarier face and intimidate you more when they are in a hunting shape. Not a cute giant corn snake.
