Most of these look like the people receiving the dogs were wanting one for a while. Very heartwarming. But often gifted animals end up in shelters, or abandoned. Make very very sure the recipient wants and can care for a new critter. Ideally, provide a 'starter kit' of bed, food and a toy or two.

I don't agree with gifting a pet to someone who's not ready, willing, and able to care for them. But these are darn heartwarming. A furry companion is so special and these folks reactions are so wholesome.

I enjoy seeing the tears and huge smiles on those people's faces, however, when the pup is picked up, and the tail is wagging so fast, that you can barely see it, tells me that the pup is as happy as the new owners.

A love dogs, but for the life of me I can't imagine getting a puppy that weights 10 lbs. I point out that a dog that still is a puppy is not growing up.
My last dog weighted 60 lbs. She was under fed. Under my care, she gained 4 lbs within a week. She was a female, white German Shepherd. She was so happy as me being her owner. She became very protective of me.

When we were kids(5 of us), my uncle asked mom, unknown to us if he could buy a dog for us. When he arrived, he had a box over his head. My sister guessed first..."It's a dog!" A little daschund we named Shotsie. My sister has had 3 over the years. Shotsie has been gone for 50 years but still treasure him & the memories
