Christophe Beck explains that the best way to get better at storytelling through music is to practice, listen, and watch movies critically. He suggests going on YouTube to find movie scenes that don’t have music, and write your own scores. He remembers doing something similar to this in the early ’90s with a VHS of “Die Hard.” He encourages you to write your own music under a scene and observe how the feeling changes.
ABOUT CHRISTOPHE BECK
Christophe Beck is an Emmy Award-winning composer whose credits include “Frozen” and “Frozen II,” “The Hangover” trilogy, Marvel’s “Ant-Man” films, “WandaVision” from Disney+, and “Buffy the Vampire Slayer.” Beck attended the University of Southern California’s prestigious film scoring program, where he studied with legendary composer Jerry Goldsmith.
