10 Advanced CONVERSATION English Phrases
1. I am/was under the impression (that)… Meaning: To believe/think/presume something to be true. I was under the impression they’d broken up. 8.30? I was under the impression we were meeting at 9!
2. On the whole… Meaning: In general and taking everything into account. On the whole, I think the event was rather successful. On the whole, I think the university course is really quite interesting.
3. On second thoughts… Meaning: To change your mind. On second thoughts, I’d rather go see a movie than go for a drink. On second thoughts, why don’t we go down the beach, the weather’s fantastic.
4. I can’t/don’t recall… Meaning: can’t/don’t remember. What’s her name? I can’t recall. What time did we say we were meeting? I can’t recall.
5. To get your head around something. Meaning: To try to understand. Why were you fired? Really can’t get my head around that! Your idea is a little complicated… I’m trying to get my head around it.
6. It’s on the tip of my tongue. Meaning: To be close to remembering a word/name. I met someone last night, her name is on the tip on my tongue… What’s the name of that city we visited last year?... It’s on the tip of my tongue…
7. Off the top of my head… Meaning: To think of something spontaneously, in the moment. Off the top of my head, there’s a great Italian (restaurant) down the road, we should try that.
8. If…(noun)…, is anything to go by (then)… Meaning: that something is taken as an example, an indication or even as evidence or proof of something. If past experience is anything to go by, England probably won’t win the World Cup. If your previous essay is anything to go by, I’m sure you’ll do great in the exam.
9. I’m afraid… Meaning: I’m sorry. Used to soften your language When you might make someone Sad, disappointed or angry. And it sounds more polite. Sorry, I’m afraid I can’t make it tonight, I already have plans. I’m afraid I can’t agree with you there. I’m afraid I’ve got to go, I’m going to be late for my next meeting.
10. At the end of the day… Meaning: when everything is taken into consideration. At the end of the day, your success depends on how much work you put in. At the end of the day, they didn’t seem happy together, so maybe it’s better they broke up.

The only problem with your sessions is that you consume 40% of the time in selling your lingoda that's why most of us don't see your sessions. See in this 13 minutes of session, 6 minutes plus you utilised in promoting lingoda.
Plz remember EXCESS is not always SUCCESS and sometimes LESS is MORE...
