Capitol Peak | Knife Edge & Summit (4k)

Показать описание
Our August 25th, 2017 ascent of 14,130' Capitol Peak, Colorado's most challenging 14er, near Aspen & Snowmass in Colorado.

Five climbers died this year attempting to climb Capitol Peak, most of whom attempted to choose their own route down from the summit and got cliffed out on the north face. Don't do that. STAY ON ROUTE, start early (3-4am) and respect the mercurial mountain weather.

Man I would be double checking every hand and foot hold on the way up that 😂 Some experiences I'm ok with missing out on, but I'm glad you and your crew made it safely! Awesome accomplishment

A woman died here just this week. This is serious climbing and requires serious planning. Have fun and be safe out there.

Amazing video! I recently did a similar hike on Stegosaurus+Sawtooth Ridge in Taiwan. This one feels like a major step-up.

That face up to the summit looks SCRAY man. And I thought I just had to be worried about the route finding and the knife edge(s). Ugh. Maybe after a lot more training with exposure. Well done boys.

That’s sick. On my bucket list for sure.

My feet and legs get weak when I'm 20 feet away from the south rim of the Grand Canyon. I just have this vision of the entire shelf of rock I'm standing on breaking off and falling like giant surfboard into the canyon.

At 1:49 the middle rock looks like a face!

I'm ok not doing this 😅. Longs peak keyhole route and sawtooth was enough for my comfort level.

So crazy to think this was filmed right after and right before some very tragic deaths there 😢

Hey everybody I plan on doing knifes edge/capital peak in August and I have a question if somebody would answer I would be grateful. I’m not worried about the edge but I do keep hearing that route finding is very difficult. Are there no cairns? From the trail head to the lake is that well marked or is it more from the lake going up that’s difficult and why?

the 5th person fell the next day after this vid, attempting the "shortcut." I've done Capitol more than 5 times, there are NO shortcuts! After 2017 2 more climbers have fallen to their deaths. If you do go to Capitol, be prepared and be safe! The summit is not worth it if you don't come back alive.

Hey man! How do you know the best path to take during those scrambles?

I’m considering doing this hike this summer. I’m not an avid hiker in the least but have completed difficult 15 mile hikes. Do you recommend this hike for someone like me or for someone a little more advanced?
