Thank you so much for your videos and professional tips and guidance. I still have a few sentimental items around. Believe it or not.
-- A white wooden rocking chair - I change up with a throw and different cushions and pillows. It's the rocking chair I used to rock my baby in for years. It's still in perfect condition and the 'baby' is over 30 yrs now.
I also have 2 wicker chairs I decorate the same way. My aunts and mother often sat in them years ago (another era) when they took a break from playing bridge. They would have coffee or tea, relax, and discuss relatives or friends who were away from home and at war. My mother kept the chairs. I pretty much place them where ever and also cover with seasonal or holiday pattern on the fabric used for throws and pillows. They add a nice little touch, are plain and simple, and blend in anywhere. Sweet dreams.

I am furnishing my house with only vintage and antiques. Fresh stain, and new apholstry helps alot with making it all cohesive. It just takes time. But you get to make it all of have similar hues. Plus you can add some new filigree, guarantees its one of a kind, and strikingly original. Plus its way cheaper, and fun to go adventures looking for the right furnishings.

I picked up a gorgeous gondola sofa a few months ago that was reupholstered in the eighties..that looks very eighties. I'm having a hard time coming up with fabric that will reflect the era, yet doesn't feel like I pulled it out of an attic.

Loved the suggestion to reupholster in more modern fabrics. Our dining area is a bit antique-y, and doing up the chairs in a livelier fabric might make it a lot more interesting.

all the o.p.'s in my fam are downsizing and we've got a lot of antiques and tranditional furniture pieces to puruse. this gives me hope that I can work some of those beautiful pieces into my modern MCM home and keep it seemless.

I live in a historic home and all of my furnishings and decor are vintage or antique. Anytime I bring something new in the house it sticks out like a sore thumb. I get what you mean about the antique store look, so yeah, less is more.
