Did you know, that Nokia started as a paper producing company? In 1860s Fredrik Idestam built two wood pulp mills near the city of Nokia in Finland. By 1950s they were producing 27 thousand tons of paper annually and in the 1960s the factory focused on tissue paper production. In 1989, as Nokia focused on mobile communications, the paper factory was sold to the American James River company, and still remains operational.
