This is a natural limestone cave network that has been transformed into a Hindu temple. The newly painted stairs have caused some controversy in 2018 when they received a fresh coat of colorful paint because it violated a law that prevents a national heritage site from being renovated without proper authorization. The caves are filled with monkeys and bats and there are other caves nearby that you can explore. Ascend the 272 steps to the temple. This is seen as an act of penance. As you go up you will pass cascading water and luscious greenery. Our recommendation, get there early before the tour busses and horses of sight seers arrive. You can take the train from KL but a Grab is cheap and easy.
We really enjoyed this day excursion.

I like the look of the painted steps - they look really cool. I have never had any experience with monkeys before. I think it would be really cool to see one, but I know they can be little buggers. Shame about the drone. I just bought one myself! Super excited! It should be arriving today!

Dude Batu cave is Malaysia most tourist attraction place isn't it? Guys 2:06 was such a epic shot with all of those pigeons.. Lots of monkeys for sure I think they are afraid of the bats hheheh

Those stairs look amazing! We didn't make it to batu this time round. Watch those naughty monkeys - love the edit!!! Those stairs look steeper than we thought they'd be. The caves look awesome and we look forward to experiencing them - hopefully next year. Boo to the drone fail 😲....but hey the video is fine without the drone!

Most be a good workout to climb those stairs to the top of the cave. Its a good thing you guys went early, since its not crowded, the metro looks really clean.
