I have a bunch of Olights, the camping lantern is awesome during power outages! And I have a Warrior X Turbo that clamps on my AR-15barrel for night coyote hunting. It lights them up easily at 500 yards!

Earned my tech and gen license in Dec 2019….bought my 7300 for $799 which included a $100 rebate from Icom…..I’ve not seen it that low since.

I actually don’t mind butane soldering irons because sometimes you need a hot tip at the top of the tower or even out in an antenna field. If you do work up in the air you definitely need one. My choice is usually solder-it. However these days for work out in the field I usually have a solar generator with me anyway.

Caught on #TeamReplay. I love the TS100 (a.k.a. Pinecil Pine 64 iron) I believe it is a more portable option since with a 5.5x2.1 barrel adapter with the ham battery we're bringing (anyway), it's going to pack a lot less than a butane iron case + canister. Plus, I prefer fine temperature control instead of some thousand uncontrolled degrees of butane. Granted, as Hosh says won't go 800+°F, but I never go that high-- I solder at 660°F (349°C). The TS100 has an active firmware community whose opensource firmware I used to upgrade my iron to have more features and control. Not trashing butane torch irons, they'll work in a pinch & I do have a small one. I just prefer better control when I have the option. I now use my TS100 more than my Hakko desktop iron.

As a contractor myself, a lot of power tool purchases fall in line with the tools you already have lol
