the old "send your children to chill on a boat near Iceland for 10 years to die from dysentery" trick works too

1. Disinherit
2. Murder
3. Send into battle as army commander of a one soldier army.

not nearly as powerful as it was in CK2 but still nice

It is very important to explain to people that this only works in later starts. These laws have to be 'invented/researched' first by a culture - which is not the case for almost anyone in the early 866 start ;)

I love how I always seem to be learning something from the CKIII community

House seniority + designate heir = profit.

Feudal elective has a tendency of backfiring for me. Unless I play really tactically, which is possible with the visible health bar in CK3, feudal elective has a tendency to, after a while, cause other characters to gain priority in the election. I prefer house seniority before feudal elective.

If you're in western Europe, especially if you're starting 867, what I found works best is, just grab 1 county from Navara and hybridize the culture, those mfs got High Partition from day 1.

I really like it when the kingdom breaks apart tho makes it more interesting

Imo rushing partition is a good strategy. Just destroy titles you'll lose. You can get to partition sometimes in one life, but primogeniture can take a long time.

I pretty much only disinherit due to stats/traits
Playing wide - give your second sons a duchy and they won't inherit
Playing tall - have elective on your capital duchy where you can vote alone for your primary heir

I'll throw my own tip into the ring. When starting as a count or duke, don't create the default kingdoms. Conquer as many duchies as you can and create a custom kingdom. That way every duchy you hold becomes a de jure title in your custom kingdom. This works really well in Africa and could give you a really solid start when you go for the Mother of us all achievement. With an empire-sized kingdom, any kingdoms you lose in future can be easily recaptured and if you don't have too many heirs you have time to integrate kingdoms into your primary kingdom.

I often preferred elective succession in CKII because, as long as I kept my vassals vaguely happy, it meant I could choose my most qualified child to be my heir instead of just the oldest. Also gave me an extra challenge if my vassals didn't like me

I like playing Britanny and going tall. I discovered recently that, by putting Feudal elective on both my kingdom title and my duchy title, I can have the same person inherit both *along with every single county in Britanny*, making sure that my central holdings last forever

I did this while making the Britannia empire, managed to get my kid voted as king in every kingdom and the empire. I died when he was 8, and as soon as he came of age everyone declared I dependence and pulled in a huge French army. Empire immediately fractured after 4 generations of building

Elections work if you have only one person who can vote, I think. Trying to keep the HRE on CK2 is hella complicated
