A local bar has become the target of a series of brazen burglaries, and the owner is facing the cost of thousands of dollars out of her own pocket.

It has been 13 years since Jennifer Davis opened The Escape Bar and Grill, an LGBT bar.

“It's been a lot of fun, a lot of stress, anxiety, going through COVID, and now, the times after COVID just hasn't gotten any better,” she said.

That's because, in recent months, her business has become a target for ruthless behavior, with thieves smashing their way into the bar three times in four months.

“In October, they got a lot of funds from us. They broke into some areas that they shouldn't be in. Next was November, we were vandalized outside,” Davis told KATU.

Terrible! 😢 Roll-down storefront covers like businesses have had for decades in NYC. Same mechanism for the alcohol on the shelves behind the bar. How are they getting in otherwise? Install bars on back door or replace door entirely with this type of door. Make it impenetrable.
