What is the Book of Enoch?

Показать описание
The book of Enoch, often called 1 Enoch, is an apocryphal scripture that has had a profound impact on Second Temple Judaism and Early Christian theology. The book of Enoch tells the tails of the many visionary and apocalyptic visions that the biblical figure Enoch experiences as he travels through the glories of heaven and the terrors of the underworld.
Enoch, a character that can be found in the book of Genesis in the Old Testament, is the star of this ancient non-canonical text. Enoch encounters the evil Watchers and the frightening giants called Nephilim. The book of 1 Enoch is quoted by Jude in the New Testament, was found among the Dead Sea Scrolls, and is still considered scripture and is part of the Bible in the Ethiopian Orthodox Church. 1 Enoch even references many sayings often associated with Jesus, like the "Son of Man" and "The pre-existent Savior." The book of Enoch is one of the most fascinating works in all of ancient literature.
