LOWELL, Mass. -- UMass Lowell is celebrating its future and taking a look at its past. The school held a "Topping Off" Ceremony as crews put the last steel beam into place for its new Emerging Technologies and Innovation Center.
They also opened a time capsule dating back to 1947. They found the box during the demolition of a dorm last year. "We're also going to have a time capsule put into this new building so that people get a chance to see what our expectations were with this new cutting-edge building," said Marty Meehan, UMass Lowell Chancellor. The time capsule included a letter from the governor, newspaper articles from the forties and an alumni magazine.
