I like the way you think about the gap year, what do you want to do during the gap year, try to do something new and also meet new people. You're right, it's not always fun to live in a big city full of activities, living in a small city is also a good choice for us as for healing ourselves. About your plans, after this pandemic, make sure you travel the world, meet new people, try their culture and chat with them :)

Annecy is a small border town and for tourists it is mainly a crossing point to the Alps. I went there 3 years ago after a week of hiking in the high mountains and it often comes to mind because there after a boat ride I had a sunstroke and then I got sick. Ah, coincidentally it was also my birthday...
I hope your gap year is full of experiences that leave their mark, greetings from Italy!

I have been a subscriber since pretty much the beginning and I continue to be impressed by you. I love living vicariously through your introspection and travels. However, I would suggest against trying to travel the word staying with subscribers for a couple days at a time and moving on. It will be exhausting and will leave you unhinged. Better to pick a few places of interest, and stay a month in each one or so. Then you can feel a part of the place, acclimate, let your anxieties ease and find your way around.

You want the same beautiful picture perfect place for a few months, come to The Big Island of Hawaii, especially the Kahala coast..Gorgeous sunsets and no people to take way the ‘experience’.
