Thank you for showing this in such detail. I've been servicing big game reels a long time and people are so tentative to give it a go. As you show if you take your time and stay organized it's not at all rocket science. I actually find smaller reels are more time consuming. I think the Internationals are among the simplest of the big game reels. I'm in the super super light drag grease camp. I think just the tiniest amount helps and anything more impedes.

A little stingy on the grease and oil for my liking. I can see going light on the grease on something like a baitcaster but not on a trolling reel especially considering the environment they are used in. That little bit of grease he used will be dried out and ineffective in no time. The reason they come with a lot is so as the reel is used its constantly regreasing itself very similar to engine oil in a car.

Thanks for the video. I have a little noise coming out of mine, not a scary noise but I feel there shouldn't be ANY noise so I wanted to take a peak at the bearings. This will help a lot. Mine is a two speed but I am assuming it will be similar. Thanks again!

The way I see it, the carbon clutch plates in my fully built Harley require oil to cool them, why wouldn’t carbon drag washers? Now with that said oil and grease are two different animals so im not sure you could have a “reel primary” full of oil

Nice video, would you happen to have any VISX models? It’s old be nice if you Cana similar video for a 16 or a 20 size VISX. What grease and bearing oil do you use? Do you a TSI-321 oil?

This was very helpful. Saved me a lot of time. Do you think you could do this with a Penn Intl II 50TW?

I have a few Intl, II and wondering if you know of a down and dirty material to cover the raw spots where the anodize has been scratched away?

I have a brand new 50 vow that the clicker does not work on. The only thing I did not see you do was service the clicker. Do I just remove the the black cap and then the nut to take it apart while the side plate is off. I'm thinking it may just need to be tightened down as there is a lot of up and down play in it or it's a broken spring. Any ideas? Thx

What happens if that retainer clip that hold the drag plate comes off? The post it connects to fell down into the spool and I don't have a way of grabbing it and the plate won't screw off

Putting back together and the spool won’t reel any ideas? Feel like it’s super simple and I’m just not seeing it. Thanks
