BTW, women can increase strength without a significant change in appearance, because women muscles gain fiber density at almost the same proportion than men (under the same training) but not so much volume, on contrary, men muscles gain volume faster, but part of that volume is just a fake, because fiber density does not increase proportional to the volume gain, it is like a visual sex trait from evolution in order to seem more fit and attractive to women.
So women can notice a good improvement on weight lifting without noticing much muscle gain (unless they use steroids which are no other thing than testosterone). But of course, if they use that they start to look like men.
