Here in Brasil 🇧🇷 L-188s flew from 1962 to 1992 and was a beloved aircraft. From 1975 to 1992 it was the only type of aircraft allowed to fly the "Air bridge" between São Paulo ( Congonhas ) and Rio de Janeiro ( Santos Dumont ) airports. PP-VJM is the only survivor and can be seen in a museum.

Lockheed had a L-1249 Super Constellation, powered by Pratt & Whitney T34-P6 turboprops, which were similar in type to the Allison engines, under development, but it never reached production for commercial service. Also, Aeroproducts, which made the 606 four-blade propeller, became a division of Allison after its founders, Werner "Pete" Blanchard and Charles MacNeil, passed away. It would later be sold to Hamilton Standard, which provided the alternative propeller for the Electra II. Allison was acquired by Rolls-Royce in 1995 after General Motors sold it two years earlier.
