You left out money. Many seniors have worked all their lives yet have nothing to live on but social security. What they get rid of they may never be able to afford again. Younger people have years of wage-earning ahead. They can afford to make more mistakes.

I'm a gerontologist and I have a real estate license. I am looking to build a real estate niche for seniors who want to downsize their big homes. Thanks for the video.

I winced when you told of your in-laws having to endure several downsizings. I have a friend who has downsized 4 to 6 times in recent years. It's as if she can only let go of a certain amount at a time. I'm in the process of downsizing, so I am glad to be learning what mistakes to avoid. God bless!

k, no. I got this house for my kids, really worked hard at making it a home they could feel safe in and one where they could have their own space. The kids grew up and I find the motivation to make all beautiful is gone. I did not "sprawl" as you say, but they left all their stuff here, making it hard to "declutter". I am older now, and I cannot keep up! I want out. HOW? This house is 3500 square feet (1/2 an acre yard) of nightmare! I see no way out at this point. Thankfully, the house is paid off. But the yard that was once a pristine paradise that neighbors commented on is now an embarrassment. Any advice there???
