Richard Paul Astley (born 6 February 1966) is an English singer, songwriter and radio personality, who has been active in music for several decades. He gained worldwide fame in the 1980s, having multiple hits, including his signature song "Never Gonna Give You Up", "Together Forever" and "Whenever You Need Somebody". He returned to music full-time in the 2000s after a 6-year hiatus. Outside his music career, Astley has occasionally worked as a radio DJ and a podcaster.

"It Would Take a Strong Strong Man" is a song written by Stock Aitken Waterman for Rick Astley's debut album Whenever You Need Somebody. It reached No. 1 in Canada, No. 10 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and No. 1 for one week on the Hot Adult Contemporary chart. It was mainly intended for the American market and was not released in the UK and most of Europe. The b-side "You Move Me" written by Rick Astley was featured in the movie Cocktails. Producer Pete Waterman excitedly dragged Rick Astley into his office and played Astley a VHS of the trailer of the movie and Astley was stunned that his song was played all the way through it. Waterman neglected to tell Astley that it was only in the trailer and not the movie.
