"Ignore the bird! Follow the river." has been rent free in my head for decades.

My single favorite line from Saorsie - "It went away? 'I dwell in darkness without you', and *it went away?!"*

The other thing that people miss about Bavmorda's defeat, is that she was trapped by a self fulfilling prophecy, which she failed to anticipate. The prophecy never said Elora would kill Bavmorda, never said she would defeat her, it said she would "Bring about" Bavmorda's defeat. And she did, by making Bavmorda so desperate to get rid of the child in such a permanent way, she herself laid out all the dominoes that eventually came back to topple her.

Willow truly is a classic of the 80s. A sword and Sorcery movie with a simple premise, yet great acting, great casting, costumes, sets, and effects. In some ways it's almost like a discount version of The Hobbit. Really miss films that did almost everything practically like this.

Before I had even heard of Lord of the Rings, I had Willow memorized. It has so many amazing, quotable, epic moments. Thank you for covering it!

I have to say my favorite expectation subversion is when Willow rushes home after the attack. The trope would be to have his family dead to push him into the adventure, but he doesn't need that because of his love for Alora. He can be a hero _and_ have a loving family at home.

Also, the first... several times I saw this movie I thought the first part of Madmartigan's was a nickname and it changed absolutely nothing.

surprised there was no win for Madmartigan's reaction to the Eborsisk, running out with the enemy army then doing a double take when they all realize he's with them made me laugh so much when I watched this movie.

Willow is a family classic and Val Kilmer is literally a three generation celebrity crush. I stinkin love this movie

I'm surprised you missed one of the best parts in the film. The bit when Bavmorda is transforming the army, and her daughter comes out. And Bavmorda... stops. She pauses for a moment, and you're thinking that maybe she can be redeemed. But no, she just turns her daughter too.

I feel like Val Kilmer is approaching "Always A Win" status. He was one of my first celebrity crushes but how he just always kills at being mildly OTT antagonistic but loveable characters. Also he's dreamy

Kinda breaks my heart seeing Val so young and knowing how life is for the guy now. Then you've got people like Steven Tyler and name any other rock stars of the time who put an entire pharmacology school through their bodies for 50 years and they're kickin around just fine. It's hard to watch movies from my childhood and teens and see so many great actors hurting or gone already. Thankfully they'll be immortalized for amazing roles like this. I really do wish Val was doing better so he could've reprised his role in the show, would've been lovely to have him wise cracking around again.

I adored this movie growing up, it was my favourite fantasy flick along with "Lord of the Rings" and "The Princess Bride." I was disappointed that it never became a full franchise, but Thank God there's now a sequel series!

I'm amazed at how well the effects hold up. They never shy away from throwing the brownies into a scene and generally it doesn't take me out of the moment, and those trolls are still as creepy as they were when I first watched this movie as a kid.

A seriously underrated gem. The fantasy music and scenery are some of the best, and the character chemistry between three leads was fantastic.

14:44 as a matter of fact yes, PG *DID* hit different in the 80's. Seriously, PG could cover a lot of stuff and there were some truly nightmare inducing movies in the PG rating back then

Willow is one of those films where for many years I had only seen it once but left such an impression on my that i would still tell people that it was awesome, recently rewatched it and it holds up fantastically.

14:16 My favorite line in this film is Sorsha's "Excuse me? 'It went away?' 'I dwell in darkness without you' and it WENT AWAY?" Also as a kid I had a major crush on Joanne Whalley in this film.
Also 14:40 the PG13 rating wasn't introduced until '84 so I'm sure the MPAA was like "eh, we'll let it slide this time."
