The Doyle Harbor Freight Anvil Review

After using the new Doyle anvil for several projects these are my thoughts on the anvil and it's uses.

Thank you for the final comment!!! I’ve been forging over 40 years and have seen guys in Africa forge on a rock. It’s not and never will be about the size anvil lol. I just went and got one and it’s a great little tool. Beginners don’t get caught up with tool collecting just have fun

Thanks for showing this. Our HF started carrying this model a year or so ago. I thought it looked good. I have my old Morris for home use and a couple of rr tracks for mobile use. Last year I dug up from my backyard a half foot or so of small gauge rr track. Didn't know it was there until I stepped on something sharp that had grown up from the ground. Another anvil! If I ever need a real anvil for road use this looks like a plan.

I've had a Doyle anvil for 4 months now. The first thing I did was have that ugly red powder coat sandblasted off. Zero casting flaws under it. I've worked S7 1 1/4" with no problems. The hardness is very near 60 HRC.
Zero complaints from me.

Never so much as forged a nail, but I've just subscribed anyway, I love this gentleman's personality, it's cool to see someone who speaks like me, slightly different, but to someone up north it would be identical I suppose, I'm from a small town in NW Georgia, but anyway it's awesome to see a southern man like myself doing something on YouTube, so few people from the south use their actual accent on here.

I've been interested for years in learning black smithing, and this year has just felt like the right time to finally start. I've been researching and looking around for the best anvil to start with, and this seems to be the best choice for the money. I'm only looking to do this for fun so I don't need some professional multi thousand dollar setup, so I think after tax season I'll grab this and some tools, and try building a small forge. Do you have any tips on making a small budget friendly forge, or where I should look to start?
