For those who don’t know. The reason why parents do this is because when they had to text people it cost money per text so instead of ending the text and typing a new one after, to save on cost per text they added “…” to show they ended what they were saying and adding more text after it to show a separation instead of emphasis. This practice has stuck with them long after they didn’t have to pay per text message
