True story. This woman was in her late 50’s and had a horrible infection of her inner thighs with necrotizing fasciitis. At the time she had approximately a 50% survival rate. The treatment is prompt IV antibiotics and surgical debridement (cutting out the liquified, necrotic and infected tissue). These are the worst infections you can get, and scary for everyone.
.
She survived due to the whole medical team (and some help from above). Although it’s been many years, I still remember her coming into the office for her first follow-up, beaming because she knew how blessed she was to have made it.
.
And she was h0rny. 😂😂

That is amazing!
I'm glad that she recovered well, and was feeling up for sex after all of that.
I had a bad case of cellulitis on my arm when I was 15, and for a while doctors thought it might be necrotizing fasciitis. Thankfully, it was not, and surprisingly, it healed without a scar.

You’d obviously done a great job! It’s amazing how little info surgeons give you post op regarding sex. I’ve had several spinal fusions, in England, and the only staff member who answered the same question without getting surprised was a french nurse. The physios, once over the initial shock, were hilarious with positions, etc. It definitely broke the ice and gave us all a giggle, but also gave me helpful info.

Bless, it's an amazing feeling watching someone go from worrying about surviving the next few days to worrying about getting to enjoy themselves. 😉

Be able to survive is amazing, and sex might be a good thing to celebrate live I guess.

I lost much of my arm to flesh eating disease. I can never thank my plastic surgeon enough, he will always hold a special place in my heart. It was the scariest moment of my life. I fought hard and won! ❤️❤️❤️

I just survived this, I coded twice during surgery and didn't get the full scope of how dangerous things were until I was leaving the hospital 9 weeks later. Thankful every day for doctors like you that pull us through with that extra help from above. <3

But she was able to walk again so there's some good news I guess

My grandma got this. 😔 She survived and was in rehabilitation at a home and when they finally stood her up she started seizing due to spinal meningitis traveling up her spin to her brain. After that everything went down hill and she passed away but she also had a lot of other health issues too like diabetes, and COPD. I am glad this woman survived!

My brother had this infection in his hand. He was cleaning a drain at work. Definitely use gloves when dealing with any sort of drain. Local ER sent him home! He had to go back to another ER. (Northern Mich) Almost died. Was in isolation after surgery and had to have a port w IV meds for weeks. Scary.

I had flesh eating bacteria as an infant. I was a bit over 2yo and I came very close to dying... It was always a part of me that felt normal, it was just something I had as a kid, no big deal. Until I had children myself and realized how young I actually was and how devastated it would be to lose my babies to this shit. Scary!
