An excuse at my school is "i was talking to another teacher." If you're talking to another teacher, you're supposed to get a pass, so they usually don't believe that excuse.

It means alot when students know they can be honest. I would say depending on age let it go unless unless it becomes a repeated problem That is of course depending the reason too. Other issues might cause a person to be late more often like some medical type reason and I am sure there are others like that too. Great to have a understa ding that they are just kids being kids
