It doesn't require a massive amount of resources to leave a cave. If you had to use all of the food and fuel in the cave to leave, you would stay until there was an abundance.

Why not try to terraform africa or antarctica? I believe “buying” land from some african king or prince and “testing” the technology in the place where price of failure wouldnt be trillions of dollars and probably lives of people. But thats not that great of a marketing slogan, people would rather abandon earth than try to save it lol
