Overseen by NHS England, the ‘Learning Disability Mortality Review Programme’ (LeDeR) is aimed at making improvements to the lives of people with learning disabilities by raising the standard and quality of care they receive.
In Hertfordshire, the Programme has already been beneficial in drawing together a range of learning and having undertaken a number of reviews a range of issues and themes across health and care have been identified. Hertfordshire recognises the need to address the occurrence of preventable and premature deaths amongst people with learning disabilities as a priority and are working collaboratively with health and care services to tackle health inequalities locally in a number of ways.
The Purple All Stars are a group of people with learning disabilities who provide powerful health promotion messages using creative arts. This song aims to educate people with learning disabilities to understand what they can do maintain a healthy life as well as send a message to health and care professionals as to their responsibilities.
