Показать описание
Upanishads follow the four vedas (Rigveda, Yajurveda, Samaveda and Atharvaveda), and Brahmanas and Aranyakas. It is in Upanishads that the focus decisively shifts from rituals to knowledge. The vast expanse of ten major Upanishads and many minor ones cover a great array of philosophical concepts and spiritual inquiry. Upanishads hence signify a pivotal juncture in the evolution of the vedic philosophy. They also are a vital sliver of the literary history of ancient India.

Thus, the Bhandarkar Oriental Research Institute is delighted to bring you a YouTube series of 13 lectures on Upanishads that begins with this first introductory interaction between Dr. Sucheta Paranjpe and Dr. Gauri Moghe. During the course of next 12 sessions, multiple scholars will introduce viewers to each of the 10 major upanishads. There will be two sessions on how to understand upanishads.

On each Tuesday and Friday a new episode of this series will be released. So stay tuned and subscribe to our YouTube channel for regular updates.

Even though I am not Indian I read some of the Upanishads when I was 20. I am glad I did because my mind and heart were fresh. I found the texts very moving and inspirational. Then I went on and lived my karma-dharma. That was 55 years ago and now I have returned to these incredible ancient teachings...

With all due respect to both of you, my humble request is that you use a board or better prepared slides to have better communication with Shishyas. Architecture and interrelationship between different Upanishads can be better appreciated if a pictorial help is taken. I am ardent lover of our philosophy, 86 years of age living in USA.

आप हिंदी में, यह discussion करें तो आम आदमी जो इंगलिश नहीं समझ पाते उन्हें भी अपने संस्कृति का पता चले ।
यह एक बहुत अच्छा आरम्भ होता ।

The final note of the session, transitioning from ritual to spiritual is worth to learn, remember and practice. It’s like a realized soul transitioning from Karma path to Jyana. Thank you both, for having a great knowledgeable session with audience.

*upanishads take you from ritual to spiritual*-- Quite informative and useful. After all the 9 schools of Indian philosophy are supported by upanishads without imposing them on others. Few prakarana granthas of Adi Shankaracharya based on upanishads.
