5 DAYS SOLO BUSHCRAFT AND SURVIVAL

5 days camping and bushcraft with a survival challenge. I haven't done much survival training but one thing that's been bothering me with books on the topic is they are not realistic. Things take too long to do. The kokstock (boil log) I knew would work. It was a lot more time consuming, calorie burning, than the previous bark container I heated water in before on the channel, but this would be a much better long term solution. The bark containers only give you water one time. Then they start to leak etc. The kokstock would probably work for a year at least. But the fishing with the simple bark strip as line worked better than I thought. I noticed right away the fish started to bite once I dipped the whole rig in there. I had no sinker. The fish didn't seem to care about having the whole rod down there. Didn't deter them. The thickness of the bark actually helped me see it down there in the dark water, so when I saw it move to the side when the fish bite I knew when to counter pull the rod. Improvements? I would next time make the "hook" somewhat shorter and thinner. It took at least 4 hours to get those fishes. Challenge worked good. Slept a few hours but of course not well rested under that spruce. It was very warm the first day when I worked the log. About 31 degrees celsius (which is a lot for me). Have never been so thirsty in my life when I finally got water from the log. Thanks for watching!

Whenever I have difficulty sleeping I just put on your video it silences and calms my mind, so relaxing, I am able to sleep peacefully with the video running and headphone still on. Thank you for that. 🙏

THAT is a VIKING HORN! With finger holes, yet! Such an inspirational camp. The final site was something I will revisit through your video work. Along the way was your tutorial about using that style of knife, even for fine craft work! Good On You! Yours is an iconic style from our American Golden Age of Bushcraft: Horace Kephart. I own a commemorative edition of the knife.

I just continue to be amazed. Sweden should make you a national treasure you bring so much joy and wonder to the world and respect and dignity to the wildlands. The cinematography work in this was especially inspiring. I also loved your homage to the Ancient Ones in the very beginning. Thank You Swedwood!

25:00 I didn't believe that it is possible to catch a fish with the fishing rod like that... Until you showed us the masterclass 👌

So much camera set up and tear down. Lots of work went into this video. Thank you for another adventure shared. Amazing fishing rig. And patience to stick with it. I guess hunger and thirst are great motivators. Love your videos. Thank you again.

As always what a lovely video.
Thank you so much for showing your fish preparation, most YouTube people don't show such stuff for fear of YouTube taking the video down?
Keeping it real makes so much difference.

Using hot rocks to boil the water in the log is one of the most coolest and creative things I've seen in bushcraft, Amazing video!

It's nice to be able to hear the horn in this day and age, it's literally a blast from the past :)
That chair is a really clever lightweight solution, though I think I still prefer some kind of hammock in my cool temperate rainforest area.

Just all around impressive. Loved the lantern and sunset scene, with the flames from fire as well.
Nice to see your treasured lantern!
Take care, Swedwoods.

Respect 100%.
Caveat - you had more than the essentials listed. Eg clothes, boots & gloves which are equally important.
You are truly our wise owl. THANK YOU for all you do for us & society. Huge respect. More than you know.
Man I love seeing the Swedish Trangia in action!

I love your use of the gorge hook. I made one of those when I was 10 or 11 years old for scouts we lived in the country so I already knew how to do it. But it's nice seeing somebody demonstrate it.

Love the mixed format of survival, bush-craft, and canoe camping on this one! It has a little something for everyone in it. When you were blowing the horn it made me think of the saying that everyone wants to be a viking until there is viking shit to be done. AWESOME!

Thank you very much. Watching your video, I remember how I hunted with my father in Yakutia. Those were great times. Thank you.
