Kielder Forest Mountain Bike Trails

Arriving at the bike hire place I planned to ride the Osprey Trail and the Lonesome Pine Trail at the Kielder Water and Forest park. I ended up getting lost pretty early on thanks to some confusing diversions and lack of experience riding off-road trails. I made my mind up to find and ride the Lakeside Way, with it being my first trip to Kielder Water this would surely be a fun and interesting trail for a rookie MTB rider such as I.
Unfortunately my stomach had been playing me up all morning and by the time I reached the lodges half way down well before Kielder Dam and decided I couldn't continue the 25 mile circuit of Kielder Water and turned back to the trail centre.

Raising vital funds throughout the month of October for St. Andrew's Hospice, thank your for your support.

This is my kind of bike ride, away from traffic, gravel track that not too tough, great sightseeing. Might have to do this one day.

That looked like a fun ride, last time I was in Kielder Forest though I got attacked by midges

Hi Richard, there is an "A68 Club" whose members are defined by finishing the inaugural LEL. It is definitely a rollercoaster road, and the reason why LEL was extended by 100k early on thereby avoiding the eastern approach to Edinburgh by cutting across to Carlisle, and taking the somewhat easier western approach. A great club to be part of nonetheless.

Great video, that route look fairly easy, would happily tackle that on a road bike with 700x25c tyre's makes it a bit more exciting

Me and my 5 year old have two electric osets but there is limited information available. Do you think they would be acceptable on these trails. Thankyou.
