They say that real estate is about three things: location, location, location. Sometimes that location will be at major crossroads. But when you want to get away from the crowds and pressures of every day life, location can be a pretty getaway in the middle of nowhere.

What happens at a ski area when the snow melts, the snow guns are stored away, and the chair lifts stop running?

Greek Peak attracts more than 350,000 skiers and riders most winters, which is no small accomplishment for a ski resort far from any cities and in the middle of farm land, not mountains. Located in central New York between Syracuse and Binghamton, Greek Peak has build a classy four season operation.

The centerpiece is Hope Lake Lodge, a 101 unit hotel and time share built on an Adirondack theme with an abundance of exposed wood, post and beam construction, a towering stone fireplace and the type of décor you expect from a traditional style mountain lodge.

What is unexpected are the add-ons. Attached to the lodge in an indoor water park built more for water games and thrills than exercise. You won't be able to swim laps here, but yo can splash, slide and have fun with the kids.

If you still feel the need for an adrenaline rush, try the adult water ramp.

The indoor park is heated to 82 degrees all year long. You can glide through the warm water to an outdoor heated pool, but they can't do much about the temperature outside.

When you start feeling a little chilled, just dive into the bath temp water and head back inside.

The water park lobby has the obligatory game room for kids who can't live without electronic stimulation.

When the urge to play outside comes over you, a walk across the road to the Adventure Center provides a variety of challenges and thrills. When we passed by the Aerial Challenge Course this young athlete made it look easy as a walk in the park.

Zip lines are becoming obligatory at mountain resorts. You've seen all the images of people efficiently gliding through the tree tops, their only concern being a safe landing. Well, it doesn;t always work that way.

Undeterred, the next pair of adventurers embark on their zip.

Their fate delights their ground based fans.

Greek Peak also has a town house condominium village across the highway from the ski lodge, a mountain resort with something different to do all year long.
