Here’s an easy way to add a drop shadow to your lettering in Procreate. Follow along as I show you different styles and options. This is my go-to way to add shadows to my digital lettering.

Steps:
• Duplicate your lettering layer.
• On the bottom layer, change the lettering to black. This is your shadow layer.
• With the bottom layer selected, hit the arrow button and start to tap the bottom right of your canvas to move the layer slightly down on an angle.
• This gives you an instant shadow, but let’s make it a drop shadow.
• To get that small space between your lettering and shadow, tap on the top lettering layer and hit Select.
• Open the layers menu again and tap on the shadow layer and hit Clear. This deletes the parts of the shadow that overlaps the lettering layer.
• Next tap on the shadow layer again, hit the arrow button and tap on the bottom right of your canvas to move it again. You’ll now see the space between the 2 layers.
• You can add a slight Gaussian Blur and bring down the opacity of the shadow.
• You’re done!
