I agree an update to the trees growth would be great and exactly which hybrid was planted.

We have seen a few of our trees produce acorns after 3 growing seasons. A fast growing tree like this one should begin producing acorns after 5-8 growing seasons.

These things really grow, averaging 8 inches a month during my growing season, x4 months puts me at about 3 feet a year, will be buying more.

I have several of the Compton's oak trees, about 5 of them, and they haven't produced seed yet, the website says that by year 6-8 (if memory serves me right) they should be producing acorns. All the trees are quite big and growing great, just NO acorns yet. However my Chestnut oak had produced acorns at year 6, and has grown to be quite huge. I have Swamp White (Q. Bicolor) that have tiny little acorns on a few trees, I'm not sure I'll get mature acorns on them in fall, but, possibly. I am puzzled as to why not 1 of the 5-6 Compton's oaks have produced acorns yet when the Mossy oaks website says they should be producing already. I have some that were planted in 2010. I am not a hunter and wanting a food plot for hunting, but, I like to watch the deer eat the Chestnut oaks acorns (Q. Prinus or Montana) and the apples. They'll soon have the Q. Bicolor acorns also. Several of my red oak family oaks have acorns every other year. My Chestnut oak has no acorns on it this year, a first for me, it has been loaded every year for as long as I can recall since it has been about 6 yrs old. I may be shocked and find a small amount, but, I hadn't seen any last time I looked, i was cutting grass with the sun in my eyes, BUT, It wasn't loaded like always, and, they would mature in August, but, have the branches loaded by now.

Anyway, If Dudley or anyone from Mossy oaks replies to me about anything, why haven't my Compton's gotten any acorns on them yet, any of them, and I have at LEAST 5 of them, maybe 6. The website had said, IF they aren't producing acorns by year, either 6 or 8, that, "you are doing something wrong". Well, I have several Compton's oaks, some about 9 years in the ground, and growing great, BUT, NO acorns yet.

Now (2021), such a tree would be $400 to $500!
