How to Write Orchestral Sketch StaffPad #1 | Composer Music Toolkit

It's been almost two months since my last video. OMG! It's time to return to YT and do some new videos about how to write orchestral music for film and video. And I'm quite excited about the upcoming videos!

This summer I fell in love with StaffPad. A beautiful app for sketching out orchestral ideas. A creative and mind-blowing experience that can result in awesome orchestral mockups. It also confronted me with my lack of good music notation and music theory. And I really needed to get comfort with this new workflow. It is totally different than working within a DAW.

So I took some time off. Invested in my skills and education. Still doing that on a daily basis! Very exciting! In the upcoming videos I'll show you my progress. You will be a witness of my personal growth. My ups and downs. My good choices and the bad ones. This is about learning, experimenting, getting out of your comfort zone. Wow!

Write a symphony... I started the same thing some mounths ago, but it's a really hard and long work XD (I just finish the 1st movement yet... and I'm not happy with it).
Nice orchestral sketch, I'm sad because I don't reallh hear the horns (ok they are muted ^^).
For me that will sound better maybe if you use a counter-movement with basson/cello/basses at the final time of your 3rd bar.

I have to put this technique into practice, I thought about doing my mockups starting with a piano but I almost didn't do it, I think that starting with the piano can make the music more consistent because then one could have the whole idea

This is great, , being able to take a melody and turn into full track, orchestra or otherwise is hard work and any thing that helps is super helpful :-)
