Sand melts into glass around 3000 degrees, and that stainless steel spoon technically would melt way before any glass was made. This experiment shows how sand reacts to heat and water.... As an Engineer, I haven't made glass yet but I did make some Non Newtonian Sand Water Concrete in the microwave, I seriously melted the container I put it in.... I mean, you could turn a teaspoon of sand into glass if you really wanted but not many folk have the required equipment lying around, like a heat source capable of extremely high temperatures (around 1700°C / 3090°F) :

1. Prepare the Sand: Ensure the sand is as pure as possible. Silicon dioxide (SiO₂) is the primary component in sand that turns into glass. If the sand is impure, it can result in cloudy or brittle glass.

2. Add Soda Ash and Lime (Optional): To make the process more efficient, you can add soda ash and lime. Soda ash lowers the melting point of the silica, while lime adds strength and durability to the glass. For a simple, teaspoon-scale experiment, I'd skip this.

3. Heat the Sand: You need a furnace or torch that can reach temperatures around 1700°C (3090°F), which is the melting point of silica. Heat the sand until it melts completely. This could take some time depending on the heating method.

4. Shape the Molten Glass: Once the sand is melted, it will turn into a molten liquid. Be cautious, as the molten material is extremely hot and sticky. At this point, you could shape it, though it's challenging at small scales without specialized equipment. I'd skip this and just accept what I got.

5. Cool the Glass: After shaping, allow the molten glass to cool down slowly to avoid cracking. This process, called annealing, is critical for producing strong glass.

Boom (not literally, I hope), you have some glass on a spoon!
