Saint-Émilion is a commune in the Gironde department in Nouvelle-Aquitaine in southwestern France, 22 miles east of Bordeaux in the famous wine region. This beautiful medieval city whose history dates back 35,000 years welcomes one to two million tourists every year.

Saint-Émilion is one of the top wine producing regions of the world. Vineyards make up more than 67% of the land area of the commune. The vineyards can be traced back to the Roman times, and the diverse geology and a microclimate that is suitable for winemaking gave the region its competitive edge.

Approximately 5,000 hectares of vines spread over eight villages were made a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1999. According to UNESCO, Saint-Émilion is "an outstanding example of an historic vineyard landscape that has survived intact.”

hello thank u for the video! i have a question please. I will be visiting Saint Emilion without a car, so basically I start from the train station. I saw that Château de Pressac is about 1.5 hours of walking.. i was wondering if i'd be walking inside the village and then i get to the chateau and so the walk isnt that bad.. I could then also walk and enjoy the village till i get there.
If not, do u have any recommendation for those coming on foot?
