drip acclimation isn't the whole story.

what shrimps do when they experience a sudden change of water parametres is moulting. a 2 hour drip acclimation in shrimp's point of view is still a "sudden" change of water parametres.

when you get new shrimps, nothing is going to prevent them from moulting within the next 24-48 hours unless your water parametres are very similar to wherever you get the shrimps from. so what's more important than drip acclimation is dosing small amount of calcium supplement before you put new shrimps in your tank to ensure they can have a smooth moult in the next day or 2. only after their first moulting is the actual acclimation process complete.

Thanks for the tip about shrimps moulting when faced with sudden shift in water parameters, this is new info and really sheds light on some issues I’ve been unable to understand. Thanks

Iv'e been keeping shrimps for the last 4 years and just noticed babies. Now i had the aquarium running with no fish or shrimps for a couple of years, just an airstone and plants in it.No reason just fish died and i couldn't be bothered to break it down, a lot of hassle and mess.Shrimps, now they sounded interesting and unusual.Aquired some, no clue what.?Some red and some grey. Not worried about breeding.Topped up with fresh shrimps every so often, just fresh blood.Never clean tank out, just topped up with treated water to replace natural evapouration.I run an airstone and added a very small internal filter for bacterial growth. This morning noticed a fair amount of babies, very exciting.I just leave tank running and undisturbed, maintainence free.

I love shrimps. I got two small aquariums, one with yellow ones and one with red ones. I will get green ones eventually :D they are so incredibly sweet and interesting

“Keep only one shrimp in the aquarium” what about us who wanted different species of shrimp but can only afford one aquarium? Amanos or Bamboo shrimp go perfectly with Cherries and will not interbreed with them.

Great information and video. I agree 100% with all the tips. I prefer to use mosses other than java moss but I think some kind of moss is necessary when keeping shrimp. Thank you for sharing and as always do what you do if it works for you.

And I’m over here with Amano’s, reds, blue and yellow shrimp all in the same tank 😂

This just reminds me of the movie ‘finding Nemo’, but I gotta admit that those tips are pretty great for those who don’t know how to keep shrimp. Thanks for the tips!

Most big box stores actually have this moss pre packaged. Its store brand, any way it's java moss and moss balls.
