You need viewership and interest to generate money. You need those big teams in the race which is why people allude to game rigging. I think the league pushes for certain teams and storylines.

Remember a guy sued the NFL for not getting a “authentic” product.

They lost. It was said the NFL is an entertainment business. You aren’t entitled to “fair” games.
